South Africa continues to enchant discerning German travellers with its rare wildlife encounters, dramatic landscapes and world-class hospitality. Legacy Hotels & Resorts is advancing two of its standout safari destinations, each redefining luxury in the African bush.
Tshukudu Bush Lodge, Pilanesberg National Park
High above the plains of Pilanesberg National Park, Tshukudu Bush Lodge is currently closed as it undergoes an extensive refurbishment. The lodge will welcome two additional chalets, increasing the total to just 12 — preserving its intimate atmosphere while enhancing comfort and design across the entire property, including the main lodge and communal spaces.
A key highlight of the transformation is an expanded wellness focus, with the introduction of a brand-new Legacy Balance Spa. Designed to harmonise with the surrounding wilderness, the spa will offer guests deeply restorative
treatments in a serene bush setting, elevating Tshukudu’s reputation as a sanctuary of quiet luxury.
Tshukudu Bush Lodge is set to reopen from June 2026.
Luxury safari redefined in the Greater Kruger
Elephant Point River Suites is due to open in May 2026 and will bring with it a redefined safari experience — one that speaks directly to the evolved tastes of high-end travellers and international buyers.
Set within the sought-after Elephant Point reserve, the new, uber-luxurious hotel retreat will build on the destination’s already established private safari villa collection, now offering guests a hotel experience with the scale, privacy and immersion of a mini-villa stay.
It is a concept rooted in a simple yet powerful idea: Safari done Differently. At Elephant Point River Suites, the bush is not something you travel to at set times of the day — it comes to you. From a private plunge pool overlooking the Sabie River to a secluded sundowner deck, a leisurely dinner, or even from the
quiet of your bedroom – every space has been designed as a viewing platform.
Wildlife sightings unfold organically, transforming the entire stay into an ongoing performance of the natural world rather than a series of scheduled moments.
The property will host 60 expansive luxury suites, each crafted to offer space, discretion and an effortless connection to the outdoors. Suites all offer a king-size bedroom with large en-suite bathroom, featuring both indoor and outdoor showers. A private lounge opens onto a shaded patio, while a separate boudoir
room with its own en-suite bathroom accommodates families with two children or serves as a private study for extended stays. Each suite also has its own personal viewing deck with dining facilities, sun loungers and a private plunge pool.
A 24-hour butler service will ensure that guests can truly switch off, with every detail handled seamlessly for them. Dining is equally flexible and personal: guests may choose to dine in the elegant San Restaurant or enjoy a private, in-suite meal served to them by their dedicated butler.
The Elephant Point reserve stretches along six kilometres of unspoilt Sabie River frontage, The central hotel facility offers guests a 25-metre swimming pool, a bar with lounge designed to heighten the sundowner and pre-dinner tapas experience. While the San Restaurant, boasts a cuisine journey designed by a two-star Michelin chef.
Wellness is woven into the stay through a comprehensive offering that includes a Legacy Balance spa, gym, yoga, padel and tennis courts, and a series of safe, immersive nature walks within the reserve.
Developed and managed by South Africa’s leading hospitality company, Legacy Group, Elephant Point River Suites is more than a new safari opening. It is a contemporary redesign of luxury in the wild—where privacy, design and nature converge, and where safari is experienced on entirely new terms.
