Cape Canopy Tours: New Houw Hoek Zipline Creates Trade – Ready Stop on Key Cape Town – Garden Route Corridor

A new zipline experience at the Houw Hoek Hotel, is introducing a viable, trade-ready stop on the N2, addressing a long-standing gap between Cape Town and the Overberg and Garden Route.

Developed by Cape Canopy Tour in partnership with Houw Hoek Hotel, the newly launched dual-line zipline offers a short-duration experience (approximately 30 minutes) that is fully commissionable and operates on a free-sale basis, with no advance booking required. The model has been designed specifically to align with the needs of the travel trade.

Positioned at the natural transition point between three of the Western Cape’s key leisure regions, the product integrates easily into existing itineraries without adding scheduling pressure. This directly responds to a common challenge for tour operators – incorporating additional experiences without disrupting routing or time constraints.

The zipline accommodates two guests simultaneously and is designed to appeal to a broad market, including FIT travellers, families, small groups and coach tours. Its accessibility and short duration make it suitable across a wide range of ages and fitness levels, strengthening its appeal as an easy-to-sell addition.

Rather than requiring travellers to build their day around it, the experience enhances the journey itself – encouraging visitors to stop and engage with a high-traffic route that has traditionally been passed through.

From a trade perspective, the value is clear: minimal booking friction, broad demographic appeal, and a strong geographic position within one of South Africa’s most travelled corridors.

WTM Africa attendees can meet the team at Stand J02 in Hall 1 and receive a complimentary experience voucher.
